Creating Virtual Learning Opportunities in Museums

Creating Virtual Learning Opportunities in Museums

Instructor: Hillary Hanel Rose
Course Date: July 1, 2024
Cost: $400
Enroll and Pay

This course builds upon your prior knowledge of creating museum education programs by introducing techniques for creating virtual learning opportunities. As many schools have had to shift to remote or hybrid learning for periods of time, museums have also made changes in order to continue reaching students. This course will cover creating both synchronous and asynchronous programs, connecting with teachers, and some technical skills to ensure that you can support teachers and students virtually as they learn from you and your museum. By the end of the course, participants will have built several different virtual education programs that will be ready to use.

Course Goals
You should bring your museum education skills and existing programs to learn how to transform the experiences for virtual learning. You will learn to use the SAMR Model (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition) to integrate technology into your education programs.

Participant Outcomes

Participants will create at least 3 different virtual museum education programs. Participants will learn to use technology tools and build skills to help them develop additional virtual learning opportunities.

You can also watch the webinar Hillary presented on April 4, 2023, Don't Reinvent the Wheel: Using SAMR to Create Virtual Programs Inspired by your In-Person Programs to hear Hillary discuss how to turn your in-person programs into virtual programs using the SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition) Model.
