Rebecca Kennedy


Rebecca Kennedy is a Collections Care Specialist and founder of Curae Collections Care, LLC. Curae was created in 2018 after working at the Smithsonian Institution for 11 years as a Collections Manager and Preservation Specialist. Her responsibilities included rehousing, exhibition installation, offsite storage management, object cataloging and collections care for over 6 million artifacts. In 2016, she received a certification in First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis from ICCROM pushing her skills in emergency response. Rebecca is Chair Emeritus of the American Institute for Conservation’s Emergency Committee, Chair of the Association of Registrars and Collections Specialists’ Emergency Committee, and member of the steering committee for the DC Alliance for Response. She is also a Professional Associate (PA) of the AIC. She was an inaugural member of the Smithsonian’s Preparedness and Response in Collections Emergency (PRICE) group and co-chaired the training action team.

 

She has responded to institutional emergencies, as well as national emergencies such as Hurricanes Mathew, Michael, Harvey, Irma, Maria, and Dorian. As well as flooding in Louisiana and Nebraska. In between emergencies she promotes preparedness through trainings for all size institutions and organizations.
